In front of an ever increasing crowd, complete with “waves” of support from fans-including Fraser Valley, Hampton Little League Intermediates, representing British Columbia in the Little League World Series Canadian Regional Championships, lost a hard fought battle against Ontario in the semi finals with a final score 8 – 9 in the bottom of the 7th.
Aidan pitched 98 pitches into 7th for a stellar performance resulting in cheers of approval as he finished his turn. Josh at short and Liam at first delivered a flawless 6-3 performance and set the bar for batting for the team. Brandon and Ronan protected the fields and laid down textbook bunts, that left the Ontario scrambling. With a whole team batting effort, including an RBI for Nathan, BC was able to take and hold an 8-6 lead going into the 7th. Throughout the series, our youngest player at 11, Tate, increasingly took on the role of catcher and finished strong by catching the entire semi-final game.
Every player on this team experienced huge growth over the last two weeks and demonstrated the little league values of fun intermingled with competition – otherwise known as “hard play intermingled with flossing.”
Thanks to the HOST team, Fraser Valley, and their fans for all your support and encouragement. Thanks to D3, Langley President, all of the tournament volunteers and the truly amazing umpires, who were completely invisible in during their officiating of the games and extremely fun too! Thanks to Langley Little League and Fraser Valley district for all the help with our equipment challenges and for making everything easy!
