From Kristen Kay, Director of the Hampton Challenger program
I (Kristen) help organize an annual community event at Topaz park called One Day. Last September, Hampton Little League players and volunteers “showcased” Challenger Baseball by playing a game during the event. If you were there, you’ll remember there were almost too many baseball players! This year we are scheduling TWO games: children and youth at 10:00am and adults at 1:00pm. Players and volunteers should wear their Hampton uniforms and come and play some baseball! Additionally, we are partnering with CanAssist, an organization at the University of Victoria that recently invented the “Bat Swinger.” The Bat Swinger helps those who need help hitting the ball to hit the ball. More info about the Bat Swinger here: automated baseball-bat-swinger The Bat Swinger will be available during our One Day games for anyone to use.
One Day is a Family and Community Event at Topaz Park in Victoria, Saturday September 16th, from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Live music and performances; a FREE Kid Zone full of activities for all ages, organized games, and a low-cost BBQ lunch.
Please visit One Day’s Facebook page for more information about One Day: www.facebook.com/OneDayVictoria/; and event page for more information about the September 16th One Day Event.
